In a series of striking, thought-provoking images, we see the up-close effects of the digital age on our appearance. On one hand, the backlit glow of our screens illuminates our face, drawing attention towards it. On the other hand, it shines a light on every microscopic detail of our lives, leading to insecurity and image issues. The viewer is challenged to wrestle the cost of this “optics upkeep.” Behind the shiny glow, our quest for image perfection weighs upon us, blinds us, and plunges us into perpetual self-analysis. The smartphone is intentionally depicted as both a helper and a saboteur. It shows us what we want to see, but not necessarily what we need to see.
