From an outsider's perspective, witnessing someone contorting their body to "worship," may appear alien and strange. These images evoke the same feeling upon first glance. Perhaps you see a human spider or an array of clones arranged in different positions. As with many of these pieces, the viewer is invited to take a deeper look. The artistic goal was to spark curiosity around these postures, or "outward expressions." The viewer is left to question how much of worship is a physical expression that impacts one's internal state, or if it's an internal shift that demands an outward one. Or is it both? These images illustrate the range of emotions -- from reverant to demonstrative -- that one may feel while engaged in worship
