TOGO PORTRAITS
In a 2022 trip in conjunction with ILAD, I captured both the joys and hardships of the Northern Togolese people. Though a strong and resilient community, their many daily challenges are espoused in these photos. Clean water access is limited and requires heavy lifting (from small children to elderly women) to obtain it, and living spaces are devoid of modern comforts. Much of their daily life appears deprived of resources, yet the Togolese still shine in their resplendant traditional clothing and artwork. A sense of deep community is evident, as people are hardly photographed alone or distracted in their own world.
